I was really pleased with this test shoot.
We talked through the images before hand, referred to misc-en-scene notes – and this was shot in 8 minutes.
This often works with children because the idea is new and fun. Adults often prefer a run through first.
Although this was actually a test shoot – I would nearly have been happy for it to be a final, except for the reasons below.

NOTES for reshoot
Fig 1. Child to look at mother.
Fig 2. OK – any closer and mother blocks child
Fig. 3. Child shouldn’t acknowledge camera. Is it vital that they are ‘on their own’!
Fig 3. Mother need lighter clothes or a soft key light for this one frame.
Fig 3 – 4. There need to be an additional image of child laying in bed/trying to sleep between 3 and 4..
Fig 5. Does the monster hand need to be more noticeable – or should you ‘suddenly’ see it?
Fig 6. Hands – gloves or better PS?
Fig. 7,8,9. Happy with these.
With additional shot this will be a set of 10 – which will work well in a large frame for a gallery, as well as in book format.
*NOTE: Shoot ‘extra’ image for book cover that isn’t a ‘spoiler’ for the plot. Maybe teddy on the bed?
book cover image – maybe teddy under the bed?

Does that make teddy the monster? Or is he the monsters dessert?
